Parametric Components

Parametric Components

All BIM software rely on parametric modelling capabilities. At Techture, we put in special efforts to develop Revit families and custom components in other software. The geometry of these objects can be easily changed simply by changing the values of parameters.

Just the Right Details

A family with a lot of extra detail can consume a lot of memory and make the project model slow. We use specific workflows to ensure that families have the correct level of detail inside them and they can further be used to extract information when in use in projects.

Standards Compliant

Standards Compliant

Our families are COBiE compliant and can be customized to incorporate the EIRs (Employer's information Requirements) into specific parameters. This ensures that the developed families are as per international standards and satisfy the project requirements.

"A BIM model is only as good as the millions of constituent components that it is made of."

Modelling

Modeling of a component includes using commands in the Family Editor environment i.e creating shaped forms out of form tools, combining and putting together the derived components in logical sequence to create a presentable family that closely represents the object being represented.Using the best family template to start the modeling with is generally the major/crucial decision, the type and category can be defined with respect to the component to be represented it as in the project environment.

LOD Matrix

The LOD Matrix represents how a component is represented in a Project according to the LOD requirements of the client/project. The component can be represented as both 2D or 3D element, with varying detail levels, which can be chosen or modified during the Project Tenure, whereas LOI represents the Level of Information provided in the component which includes parameters like materials etc.

3

Geometry

The use of basic commands like extrusion, sweep, blend etc combining these as solid and void forms to ensure the geometry of the component to matches the desired output. Cut/Join geometry of these overlapping forms, to achieve the geometrical relevance of the object being represented.

Information and Paramenters

Providing parameters related to geometry, material and visibility to make the component flexible for use. Providing information related to the component including type, size, model number, URLs. Thus, when a family is loaded into a project the user can control how the family looks or behaves.

Modelling

Techture specializes in modeling BIM components at LOD 100 ,200, 300, 400 & 500, offering comprehensive services to support your construction projects. We understand the importance of accurate and detailed BIM models in enhancing collaboration, improving efficiency, and reducing risks. We also actively collaborate to ensure that the BIM components align with your design intent and meet your project's LOD requirements.

LOD Matrix

We are experienced in modelling BIM components for multiple LOD stages to meet the specific requirements of our clients. This includes identifying the LOD requirements for each component and the project as a whole. Throughout the modeling process, we collaborate closely with project stakeholders, including architects, engineers, contractors, and facility managers. This ensures that the BIM components are documented well and a LOD matrix is defined for the project.

Geometry

We also specialize in modeling BIM components based on customized geometries and parametric families in Revit as well as Civil 3D. We understand that every construction project has unique requirements, and we are dedicated to providing tailored familes & components that meet your specific needs.

Information and Parameters

With our extensive experience in BIM, we excel at adding detailed information and parameters to each element, enhancing the client's understanding of the project. By including critical data such as material specifications, dimensions, and performance characteristics, our clients can make informed decisions, leading to improved project outcomes and greater client satisfaction. We leverage technology effectively, ensuring accurate and comprehensive documentation for every element in the BIM model.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are parametric components in BIM?

Parametric components in BIM are like smart building blocks that adapt and update automatically. Change one dimension, and everything related adjusts accordingly, saving time and ensuring consistency.

Can Custom BIM Content Be Developed for Unique Project Needs?

Yes, custom BIM content can be developed to meet unique project needs. BIM content creation involves developing specific digital representations of building components, such as custom families, parametric objects, or assemblies tailored to project requirements. These customized elements ensure accurate representation, compatibility, and functionality within the BIM environment, supporting project objectives and enhancing efficiency in design, coordination, and construction processes.

How are BIM components modeled?

BIM components are modeled using parametric software tools that allow designers to create intelligent, three-dimensional objects with defined properties and behaviors. These components are built with information-rich geometry, enabling accurate representation, analysis, and documentation throughout the building's lifecycle.

What is an LOD Matrix in BIM?

An LOD Matrix is a blueprint for BIM model detail, defining which elements require what level of information (geometry, properties, data) at each project stage. It's like a roadmap for building the model with the right amount of detail, ensuring everyone's on the same page.

What is custom geometry in BIM?

Custom geometry in BIM refers to non-standard or uniquely designed shapes and forms that deviate from typical building components. It allows for the creation of specific, one-of-a-kind elements tailored to the project's requirements, providing flexibility and precision in modeling complex architectural features.

Why are detailed parameters in BIM important?

Detailed parameters in BIM are crucial as they provide specific information about building elements, allowing for accurate analysis, simulation, and documentation throughout the project lifecycle. These parameters enhance collaboration, decision-making, and overall project efficiency.

What is a component database in BIM?

A component database in BIM is a structured repository that stores standardized information about building elements and systems. It contains predefined data on parameters, materials, and performance characteristics of components, facilitating consistency and efficiency in BIM projects. This database streamlines the selection and placement of components, ensuring uniformity and accurate representation across different stages of the design and construction process.
